Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC has regained control of its official Facebook page nearly 10 hours after it was hacked. The page returned to normal operations around 4 PM on Friday, October 3.
Earlier in the day, at 5:42 AM, hackers changed the page’s profile and cover photos and posted a threatening message. Identifying themselves as “Team MS 47OX,” the hackers warned of a large-scale cyberattack soon targeting the bank’s Facebook page and website.
By around 10:30 AM, the page became unsearchable on Facebook, causing concern and confusion among customers and followers.
A senior bank official stated that despite the weekend holiday, the bank’s IT team worked diligently and managed to regain control of the page by the afternoon. “It’s true that the Facebook page was hacked. Our IT department worked on the issue from the beginning, and we’ve now successfully restored it,” the official confirmed.
