B Mirror Report: Investors in Bangladesh’s stock market saw their portfolios decline by Tk 4,636 crore last week as major indices fell and trading activity dropped by 10 percent.
The market capitalisation of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) fell from Tk 6,90,571 crore at the beginning of the week to Tk 6,85,935 crore at the close of trading on October 1, a decline of 0.67 percent.
DSE turnover stood at Tk 3,530.63 crore during the week, down Tk 397.96 crore, or 10 percent, from Tk 3,928.59 crore in the previous week.
The DSE broad index, DSEX, declined 47 points, or 0.84 percent, to close at 5,531 points. The DSES, the Shariah-based index, fell 16 points, or 1 percent, to 1,100 points.
Of the 383 companies and funds traded on the DSE during the week, prices of 89 advanced, 280 declined and 14 remained unchanged.
Meanwhile, trading on the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) totalled Tk 138.22 crore during the week. The CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) fell 80 points, or 0.53 percent, to 14,832.
A total of 293 companies and funds traded on the CSE, with 107 advancing, 169 declining and 17 remaining unchanged.
