Initiatives for state reform come from people from all walks of life: Ali Riaz

B Mirror Desk : On Saturday, the National Consensus Commission and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami met for a debate at the LD Hall of the capital’s Sangsad Bhaban.

The National Consensus Commission’s Vice-Chairman, Professor Ali Riaz, stated that the interim government’s state reform proposal is the outcome of the long-standing aspirations of the Bangladeshi people as well as a government endeavor. Political parties, students, and most importantly, citizens from all walks of life in the nation have all expressed a desire for state reform.

He made these remarks at the start of the National Consensus Commission and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami meeting on Saturday, April 26, at the LD Hall of the capital’s Sangsad Bhaban. The commission’s members at the time were Justice Md. Emdadul Haque, Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder, Safar Raj Hossain, and Monir Haider, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor.

Professor Ali Riaz stated, “The July Uprising’s valiant martyrs’ sacrifice has allowed us to witness a momentous occasion. These courageous martyrs deserve our gratitude. The purpose should not be compromised in order to capitalize on the opportunity given by the sacrifices made by the people and students.

Mentioning the creation of a national charter through discussions with political parties, he said, “We want to reach a national charter as soon as possible. We want to build a Bangladesh where people are not deprived of their rights, are not subjected to extrajudicial killings or any oppression.”

In the discussion, Naib-e-Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. The 10-member delegation led by Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher included the party’s Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar, Hamidur Rahman Azad, Rafiqul Islam Khan, Ehsan Mahbub Jobayer, Saiful Alam Khan Milon, Matiur Rahman Akand, Nurul Islam Bulbul, Shishir Mohammad Monir and Sarkar Mohammad Mohiuddin.

Among the reform commissions formed in the first phase, the Constitutional Reform Commission, Public Administration Reform Commission, Electoral System Reform Commission, Judiciary Reform Commission and Anti-Corruption Commission were sent to 39 political parties in the form of a spreadsheet requesting them to provide specific opinions on the important recommendations mentioned in the report of the reform commission. The National Consensus Commission has already received opinions from 35 parties on the reform. So far, 17 parties, including Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, have participated in discussions with the commission.
