Index at the lowest position in 42 months

The country’s stock market is in a terrible price decline. Like the last few working days, on Tuesday (June 11) there was a big price drop in the stock market. In the main stock market Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and other stock markets Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), the share and unit prices of most of the companies have decreased along with all the price indices. DSE’s main index fell to its lowest level in 42 months or three-and-a-half years.

The proposed budget for the financial year 2024-25 has added to the fall in the stock market, which was already in decline. The proposed budget proposes to impose a tax on capital gains in the stock market. After the budget proposal for the new financial year, the share market has fallen in the three working days that have been traded so far.
