Importers decide to reduce sugar prices

BM Desk: Both the domestic and international markets are being impacted by the drop in raw sugar prices. Importers have made the decision to lower the cost of packaged and loose sugar.

These include the importing businesses cutting the cost of packaged sugar by 5 taka per kilogram. The market price of packed sugar will now be 120 taka per kilogram. The current price was 125 taka. Meanwhile, loose sugar is being sold at 118 taka instead of 120 taka.

sources from sugar marketing and refining companies disclosed this information.

It has been discovered that a decision has been made to lower the price of raw sugar in the local market as well, as a result of the drop in the global market.

At the moment, Meghna and City Group hold the top spots in the sugar industry. The Meghna Group has already begun selling its new, inexpensive sugar. It is known that City Group will choose to cut it as well.

Regarding this, Meghna Group of Industries Senior Assistant Manager Taslim Shahriar stated: “New low-cost packets have been printed since last Monday. We have already begun to provide the market with them.
