IFIC Eco Solve Awards Presented to Students for Innovative and Sustainable Contributions to Environmental Protection

IFIC Bank has honored the winners of the ‘Eco Solve’ essay competition, an initiative designed to encourage innovative and sustainable solutions to environmental challenges among the younger generation. The competition aimed to foster awareness among students across the country about environmental issues in their surroundings and inspire them to propose practical, sustainable solutions.

Under the theme “Your Environment, Your Responsibility,” IFIC Bank organized this unique essay competition for students from universities, colleges, schools and madrasas nationwide. From over 3,000 submissions, 12 students’ essays were selected for their insightful identification of local environmental problems and proposed solutions.

The award ceremony took place on Saturday (April 26, 2025) at the IFIC Tower in Purana Paltan, Dhaka. Mr. Md Mehmood Husain, Chairman of IFIC Bank, attended as the Chief Guest and handed over crests, certificates and honorary cheques to the winners across three different categories. Emphasizing the importance of responsible use of natural resources for building a safe and sustainable future, he noted that while the competition may be a small step, its impact is far-reaching.

In his welcome speech, the bank’s Managing Director, Mr. Syed Mansur Mustafa, acknowledged all participants as winners and highlighted environmental protection as a personal and collective social responsibility.

Ms. Fariha Haider, Head of Centralized Retail Marketing at IFIC Bank, presented a comprehensive overview of the Eco Solve competition at the beginning of the event.

Among the distinguished guests were members of the Board of Directors, Mr. Kazi Md. Mahboob Kasem and Mr. Md. Golam Mostofa. Respected members of the judging panel present included Mr. Khairul Islam, Regional Head of WaterAid; Dr. Mohammad Nazmuzzaman Bhuian, Professor of Law at the University of Dhaka; Dr. Syed Mahbubur Rahman, Professor at BRAC Business School; and Mr. Biplob Kumar Dev, Assistant Professor at Notre Dame College. Also in attendance were Deputy Managing Directors and senior officials of IFIC Bank.
