Imran, Jhenaidah Correspondent: A human chain event was conducted in the town of Jhenaidah district, advocating for the creation of a railway line, a medical college, and a university. The Rail Line Medical College Implementation Committee organized this event at Payra Square on Saturday morning. Alongside the organization’s leaders who carried banners and festoons, various political, social, cultural, and business figures also took part in the gathering.
Following the human chain, several speakers addressed a rally, including Jhenaidah District Judge Court PP and Advocate SM Mashiur Rahman, Daily Nabachitra Editor and Advocate Alauddin Azad, District BNP Senior Joint General Secretary Abdul Majid Biswas, human rights activists Aminur Rahman Tuku, NM Shahjalal, former Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman Shekhar, Shop Owners Association General Secretary Moniruzzaman Khan Mithu, Maulana Mufti Arif Billah, Maulana Momtazul Karim, Kamruzzaman Pintu, and Advocate Monirul Islam Milton, among others.
The speakers at the human chain expressed that the long-held aspiration of the Jhenaidah community for a railway line, a medical college, and a university remains unfulfilled. They emphasized that the establishment of these facilities would bring about transformative changes in education, healthcare, and economic growth, not just for the district’s residents but for the entire south-western region. Additionally, they noted the presence of numerous supporting organizations committed to the development of these institutions.
The speakers urged for immediate action on this initiative, warning that failure to do so would lead to a more intensified movement. After the human chain, a procession was held to further demand the establishment of a railway line, medical college, and university.
