Hasan-O- Rashid takes charge as new MD of Eastern Bank

B Mirror Report: Hasan O Rashid has officially assumed charge as the new Managing Director (MD) of Eastern Bank PLC (EBL), a leading private sector bank listed on the stock exchange.

With this appointment, he succeeds former MD Ali Reza Iftekhar, who served in the position since 2007 one of the longest tenures in Bangladesh’s banking history.

In a press release, EBL said Hasan O Rashid brings more than three decades of experience in the banking sector, having held key strategic positions in various financial institutions. Prior to joining EBL, he served as the MD of Prime Bank PLC. He also has a long association with EBL, where he previously worked as Additional Managing Director (AMD) for an extended period.

Rashid has an extensive international career, having worked in senior leadership roles at global financial institutions including Crédit Agricole Indosuez, HSBC, and Standard Chartered Bank. He is widely recognized for his expertise in financial transformation and innovative banking services.

In his academic background, he completed his bachelor’s degree in economics and business administration from Capital University in the United States and earned a master’s degree in international management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. He has also received the Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award and holds a “Credit Professional” certification from the Omega Institute in the United Kingdom.

The bank expressed confidence that his leadership will further strengthen EBL’s growth and strategic direction.
