In accordance with the instructions of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and the Agricultural & Rural Credit Policy of Bangladesh Bank, Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC has provided agricultural investment facilities of Tk. 241 lakh (24.1 million) to the ethnic and the marginal farmers of Tangail district for cultivation of pulses, oilseeds, spices and maize for the fiscal year 2024-2025. On 22 May 2025, agricultural investment cheques of Tk 241.00 lakh were distributed to 48 Ethnic Groups and Marginal Farmers through a program organized in Tangail district. The Managing Director of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC Mr. Mosleh Uddin Ahmed presided over in the program while The Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank Mr. Md. Ali Mahmud was present as the Chief Guest and handed over the agricultural investment cheques to the ethnic and the marginal farmers.
The Deputy Managing Director of Shaihjalal Islami Bank PLC Mr. M. M. Saiful Islam, the ADC of Development and Human Resource Management of Tangail district Mr. Md. Yasir Arafat and the Additional Deputy Director (Horticulture) of Bangladesh Agricultural Extension Department Mr. Md. Shoaib Mahmud were present in the program as special guest. The EVP of the bank and Manager of Tangail Branch, Mr. Md. Abdul Khaleque delivered welcome speech and the Head of SME & Agricultural Investment Division of the bank’s Corporate Head Office Mr. Md. Abdur Rahim delivered speech in the program.
Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC has already provided investment facilities of Tk. 151 (one hundred and fifty-one) crore among the ethnic groups and the marginal farmers in different regions of the country in the fiscal year 2024-2025 and another Tk. 270 (two hundred and seventy) crore is under the process of distribution. The discussants expressed their optimism in their speeches that the said agricultural investment will increase agricultural production and ensure food security in the Tangail area to a large extent.
Among others, the Unit Head of SME & Agri. Investment Division of the Bank Mr. Md. Rafiqul Islam and the Managers of various branches of Tangail Zone and other officials of the Bank were present in the occasion.
