Guardian CDIP join hands to offer insurance-backed savings scheme

Guardian Life Insurance Limited (GLIL) and the Centre for Development Innovation and Practices (CDIP) have introduced a Goal-Based savings scheme that combines a Deposit Pension Scheme (DPS) with insurance coverage.

The scheme allows members to save towards specific financial goals over three or five years while receiving insurance protection, combining long-term savings with financial security.

The two organizations signed an agreement to introduce the scheme on October 14. Amir Faisal Mohammad Zakaria, Additional Managing Director and Chief Technical Officer of Guardian, and Mifta Naim Huda, Executive Director of CDIP, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

Commenting on the initiative, Amir Faisal Mohammad Zakaria said, “Saving for a specific goal gives people a reason to set money aside regularly. But families also need to think about what happens if an unexpected event affects their finances along the way. Bringing savings and insurance coverage together addresses both needs.”

Saniyat Rahman, Assistant Managing Director and Chief Enterprise Business Officer of Guardian; Abdul Halim, Head of Micro Insurance and Digital Channel; Md. Naushadul Karim Chowdhury, Vice President; and Md. Shahariar Jamil Abir, Business Development Manager, also attended the signing ceremony on behalf of Guardian.

Representatives from CDIP included Amit Kumar Roy, GM and Head of Digitization; Abu Khaled, Head of Microfinance Program; Aminul Haque Bhuiya, GM and Head of Program; and Abu Saleh Nur Mohammad, AGM (MF), along with other representatives from the Digitization and MIS Department.

“Having a clear savings goal can help families prepare for future expenses and manage their finances better. Making savings more purposeful and pairing them with financial protection can help people build greater security for themselves and their families,” said Mifta Naim Huda, Executive Director of CDIP.

The collaboration reflects the two organizations’ shared focus on making structured financial planning more accessible and helping households prepare for future expenses with greater confidence.
