GQ Ball Pen returns to profit on non-operating income

Listed company GQ Ball Pen Industries Ltd has returned to profitability after reporting losses in the previous year, posting earnings per share (EPS) of Tk 0.06 in the first quarter (July–September) of the 2026–27 fiscal year.

The company had reported a loss of Tk 0.51 per share during the same period of the previous fiscal year.

However, the return to profitability was driven mainly by income from sources outside its manufacturing operations, including stock market investments, interest on fixed deposits and rental income from GQ Shefali Tower in Uttara.

According to the company’s explanation, rising raw material and other production costs resulted in substantial operating losses during the quarter.

The losses were partially offset by investment income, interest earnings from fixed deposits, building rentals and other non-operating income.

According to Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) data, the company’s net asset value (NAV) per share stood at Tk 142.07 as of September 30, 2026.
