The board of directors of listed telecom sector multinationals Grameenphone Limited (GP) and Robi Aziata Plc has paid the first installment of payment to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) for acquisition of additional spectrum.
According to sources, Grameenphone will acquire 20 MHz of additional spectrum from the 2600 MHz band. This spectrum acquisition demonstrates the company’s commitment to improve the LTE network across the country. The payment plan for Spectrum includes four installments over a period of four years. As a customer-centric company, committed to providing state-of-the-art services to its customers.
Besides, Ravi Aziata will acquire 20 MHz of additional spectrum in the 2.6 GHz band.
The two listed companies have duly paid the first installment of payments scheduled by BTRC on October 31 for acquiring a total of 40 MHz of additional spectrum by 20 MHz.
This spectrum is scheduled to be operational from July 1, 2025.
