BM Desk: Donations Above Tk 50,000 Must Be Made Through Banks.Any donation, contribution, or subscription amounting to Tk 50,000 or more to a political party must be made through the banking channel. In addition, the donor must have a submitted tax return, said Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Professor Dr. Asif Nazrul.

He disclosed this information at a press briefing held on Thursday (October 23) afternoon at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in the capital.

Dr. Nazrul further said that during a meeting of the Advisory Council, chaired by Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Representation of the People Order (RPO) 2025 was given final approval. The new provision was incorporated in this order.

The Law Adviser stated, “Anyone providing money to a political party—whether as a donation, contribution, or subscription—must do so through the banking channel if the amount is Tk 50,000 or more. The person making the payment must also have a submitted tax return.”

It is expected that this government decision will bring greater transparency and accountability to the financing process of political parties.
