Govt eyes online land registration by 2028

B Mirror Report:  The government has taken a significant initiative to digitze the country’s land registration system through an ICT-based automation project, aiming to introduce online deed registration by the second half of 2027 or the first half of 2028.

Responding to a scripted question from opposition lawmaker Md Masud Parvez (Chuadanga-1), Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman told the Jatiya Sangsad that the “Land Registration System Automation” project is currently underway to modernise the deed registration system and bring it under an ICT framework.

He said that to introduce the use of information and communication technology in the modernisation and digitisation of the deed registration system, the ministry has been implementing the development project titled “Land Registration System Automation” since July 1, 2025.

The minister added that the project is being implemented with full government funding at an estimated cost of Tk 632.69 crore, with the implementation period set from July 2025 to June 2030.

Highlighting the scope of the project, he said it includes nationwide modernisation of the deed registration system through ICT integration, software development, system integration, data migration, user training and overall implementation activities.

He further said that a unified “Registration Resource Planner (RRP)” software is now under development to operate the entire land registration system on a modern digital platform.

Expressing hope, the minister said it is expected that online-based deed registration will be introduced by the second half of 2027 or the first half of 2028.
