B Mirror Report: The Bangladesh government has allocated Tk 51.5 million in cash along with food and other relief materials for people affected by floods, heavy rainfall, flash floods and landslides in seven districts since July 7.
According to a flood situation report released by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief on Saturday, the affected districts are Khagrachhari, Rangamati, Bandarban, Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Moulvibazar and Habiganj.
The report said flooding has affected 56 upazilas, 374 unions and four municipalities. A total of 59 people have died and 40 others have been injured.
Since July 7, the ministry has allocated Tk 51.5 million in cash, 9,050 metric tonnes of rice, 4,200 bundles of corrugated iron sheets and Tk 12.6 million in housing grants as humanitarian assistance.
Of the total allocation, the seven flood-hit districts received Tk 23 million in cash and 3,350 metric tonnes of rice, while the remaining 57 districts received Tk 28.5 million and 5,700 metric tonnes of rice for disaster relief efforts.
