Even the report published by Bangladesh Bank says that after Abdur Rauf Talukdar joined as the governor, the special inspection of the central bank in the banks has reduced to half.

It is known that Bangladesh Bank’s Financial Integrity and Customer Services Department (FICSD) works to detect various irregularities including loan fraud of banks and financial institutions. Besides, FICSD is the only department of Bangladesh Bank where customers including the underprivileged people from remote areas can report any complaints regarding their banking transactions. Customers can also submit their complaints to FICSD through e-mail, Android apps, Bangladesh Bank website, post and courier services. According to the report, FICSD’s special inspections of banks and financial institutions have reduced by almost half in the 2022-23 fiscal year compared to the 2021-22 fiscal year. In addition, more complaints were received in 2022-23 than in the previous fiscal year 2021-22 and less were resolved than before.

According to the report, a total of 179 special inspection activities were conducted by FICSD in banks and financial institutions during the financial year 2021-22. And in the fiscal year 2022-23, 94 special inspection programs have been conducted. Accordingly, in the fiscal year 2022-23, special inspection activities were conducted less by 85 or 47 percent.
