Listed power and energy company GBB Power Ltd’s subsidiary Solarn Power Ltd has signed an agreement to build and supply electricity from a 5.005MWp solar power plant at Cumilla Cantonment.
Under the agreement with the Station Headquarters of the Bangladesh Army’s 33rd Infantry Division, Solarn Power will develop, own, operate and transfer the ground-mounted solar plant. The generated electricity will be supplied to Cumilla Cantonment for 25 years from the start of commercial operations.
GBB Power’s board approved the project at a meeting held on August 23. The company expects total investment in the project to remain within Tk 60 million.
Commercial operation of the solar plant is expected to begin in the first half of 2027.
Solarn Power is a subsidiary of GBB Power, which owns a 70% stake in the company, while the remaining 30% is held by strategic partners with expertise in the solar power sector.
