Garment owners tackle RSC challenges in open forum

BM Report:

Over 180 BGMEA garment factory owners gathered at Gulshan Club on Saturday for an interactive discussion on resolving RMG Sustainability Council (RSC) issues. The session, organized by Forum Leaders, built upon the success of previous Forum events promoting open dialogue among industry stakeholders.

Faisal Samad, Forum panel leader and BGMEA president candidate, chaired the discussion. Nafis Ud Doula, RSC director, shed light on five key areas needing remediation, sparking lively engagement from the audience. Garment owners voiced their concerns and proposed solutions, while Dr. Rubana Haq, former BGMEA president, offered a strong endorsement of Samad’s leadership.

“If Faisal Samad becomes the next BGMEA President,” Dr. Haq declared, “I will personally ensure and guarantee that there will be not a single problem regarding RSC.”

Samad actively addressed the raised concerns, outlining potential steps he would take to tackle them as BGMEA president. He emphasized his commitment to working in the best interests of every member, fostering a collaborative approach to navigating RSC challenges.

The Gulshan Club session demonstrated the garment industry’s proactive approach to overcoming RSC hurdles. With open communication and a focus on collaborative solutions, Bangladesh’s RMG sector looks poised to navigate the evolving sustainability landscape effectively.
