75-year-old Esha Banu has been suffering from eye problems for almost two years. He could not get treatment due to various reasons including financial problems. Suddenly you know through your neighbor that there will be an eye camp near your house and an experienced doctor will come and treat you. Esha Banu was waiting for that for a few days.
Finally on Tuesday Esha Banu’s wait is over. Esha Banu, wife of Ahad Mia of Sararchar Machumpur village of Bajitpur upazila of Kishoreganj, treated her eyes at eye camp. He was very happy to see an experienced doctor. He also got free medicine by showing his eyes. A day-long eye treatment and cataract operation was organized at Khanarchar Nayahati pool junction (Maktab Premises) of Sararchar Union on Tuesday.
The local Moinuddin-Muktaruddin Welfare Society organized the eye camp in collaboration with Vision Care Foundation and Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute.
Sahabuddin of Khanarchar village is suffering from the same problem as Esha Banu. He is also happy to see specialist doctors in eye camps. Khanarchar Jame Masjid and Nayahati Islamia Madrasah President Professor Dr M Abdul Aziz said that about 700 patients were given free treatment in the day-long eye camp. Out of these 165 were selected for the operation. They will be taken to Bashundhara Eye Hospital in Dhaka for free eye surgery.
Bajitpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Farashid Bin Enam was the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the eye camp this morning. A total of 10 doctors including four specialist doctors from Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute provided medical services.
