Mrinal Kanti Roy, Tangail Correspondent: ‘Quality helmets and safe speed, will reduce loss of life and property’ – this slogan was observed in Tangail. On the occasion of the day, a free helmet distribution program was organized by the Tangail Road Department on Wednesday morning. The Road Department’s Executive Engineer Dr Shinthia Azmeri Khan, Sub-Divisional Engineer Zahidul Islam, Deputy Assistant Engineer Md. Khairul Islam, TI Delwar Hossain of Tangail Traffic Department and other officials were present at the program.
Dr Shinthia Azmeri Khan said, “This initiative has been taken to increase awareness about road safety, develop a culture of law-abiding behavior and awaken a sense of responsibility among citizens. A helmet is not only a symbol of law-abiding behavior, it is also a symbol of life safety.” Free helmets were distributed to more than a hundred helmetless motorcycle riders at the event.
