Abdul Based Panchagarh Correspondent: Free fertilizer and seeds were distributed among farmers in Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh on Tuesday afternoon as part of a government agricultural incentive program. The distribution ceremony was held at the Upazila Agriculture Office ground.
The program was inaugurated with Upazil Nirbahi Officer Md. Afroz Shahin Khasru presiding over the event. Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Panchagarh, Krishibid Md. Abdul Matin attended as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Krishibid Abdul Matin said the current interim government has been providing various agricultural incentives to make farmers self-sufficient in crop production. He added that the government is also encouraging the use of technology-based agricultural machinery to promote modern farming practices. As a result, farmers, especially at the grassroots level, will be able to produce high-yielding crops in a short time at lower costs.
Chief Scientific Officer of the Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute, Krishibid Dr. Md. Farhad, and Additional Deputy Director (Horticulture) Subodh Chandra Roy were present as special guests.
The program was moderated by Upazila Agricultural Extension Officer Md. Jiban Islam, while Upazila Agricultural Officer Krishibid Sabrina Afrin delivered the welcome speech.
Under the agricultural rehabilitation incentive support sector for the fiscal year 2025–26, a total of 125 farmers of the upazila received 20 kg of wheat seeds and 92 kg of various fertilizers free of cost. The initiative aims to increase wheat production during the Rabi season.
