Habibur Madhupur Correspondent : A free anthrax vaccination campaign and leaflet distribution program was held in Madhupur upazila of Tangail, organized by the Upazila Livestock Department. The campaign took place on Wednesday morning at the Gachabari Missionary Primary School field, where Assistant Commissioner (Land) Rifat Anjum Pia officially inaugurated the event. Present at the event were Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Shahiduzzaman, former president of the Joyenshahi Indigenous Development Council Ajay A. Mree, Tribal Welfare Association leader Ranjit Nokrek, and Pabitra Simsong, general secretary of the Tangail district unit of the Nationalist Ethnic Minority Party, among others. Farmers from the Gachabari village brought their cattle to receive free anthrax vaccinations. Local residents like Arshed Ali, Enamul Haque, and Sajedul Islam expressed satisfaction with the campaign, noting the importance of protecting livestock from the contagious disease. Dr. Shahiduzzaman highlighted that anthrax can spread from cattle to humans and that recent cases have shown cross-species transmission. To raise awareness, leaflets were also distributed among the public. The initiative aimed to prevent the spread of anthrax and safeguard both animal and human health in the region.
