Petrobangla has dismissed as false reports circulating on social media claiming that gas supply across Bangladesh will remain suspended for four days, urging people not to be misled by the rumours.
In a press release issued by its public relations department on Tuesday, November 3, the state-owned Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation said gas supply would continue, although some areas might experience temporary low pressure.
According to Petrobangla, regasification operations at Summit LNG Terminal in Maheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar, have been suspended due to emergency maintenance work.
As a result, the country’s daily gas supply may decline from 2,570 million cubic feet to around 2,250 million cubic feet over the next four days.
However, the corporation clarified that gas supply would not be completely suspended during this period. Consumers in some areas may experience temporary reductions in supply and low gas pressure.
Petrobangla also said it had noticed fabricated images designed to resemble media news cards being circulated on social media, falsely claiming a nationwide four-day gas shutdown.
The corporation warned that such misinformation was being spread to create public panic and urged people to rely on official information rather than unverified social media posts.
