Former DMP additional commissioner Harun dismissed from service

Former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid has been dismissed from service for remaining absent from his workplace without official permission since August 6, 2024.

The Home Ministry issued a notification on Saturday (October 31), confirming the dismissal after a departmental inquiry found him guilty of desertion.

According to the notification, Harun was served a show-cause notice but failed to submit a written reply within the stipulated time. An investigation subsequently found the allegations against him proven beyond doubt.

The dismissal was imposed as a major penalty under the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018, and will take effect immediately.
