BM Desk:

Five coaches of a Chittagong-bound freight train derailed on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route in Uttara Courtbari area of the capital on Monday. The incident occurred around 9:20 am, but fortunately, no casualties were found, reports BSS.

According to Sub-Inspector Sunil Chandra Sutradhar, In-Charge of the Airport Railway Police Outpost, the five coaches derailed suddenly on the up line of the train as it reached the south side of Tongi Railway Bridge.

Railway rescuers and police swiftly responded to the incident and have managed to keep the movement of trains on the down line operational. Efforts are currently underway to re-rail the derailed coaches and restore full train service on the route.

The cause of the derailment is still under investigation. This incident has caused some disruption to train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route, and passengers are advised to check with railway authorities for updated schedules.
