Imran, Jhenaidah Correspondent: A fish fry release initiative has taken place in several water bodies in Shailkupa, Jhenaidah. On Tuesday afternoon, fish fry were introduced into various water bodies.

Over a span of three days, specifically on August 31, September 1, and September 2, a total of 500 kg of fish fry from different varieties were released into 20 water bodies.

The fish fry were introduced in several locations, including the Shailkupar Kumar River, Shahi Mosque Pond, Upazila Parishad Pond, Thana Pond, Mini Hatchery Pond, as well as ponds belonging to various mosques and shelter centers.

The fish fry release program was inaugurated by Shailkupa Upazila Executive Officer Snigdha Das, under the comprehensive management of Upazila Fisheries Officer Md. Imran Hossain.

Present at the release of Pona were Upazila Social Service Officer Sharif Uddin, Cooperative Officer Mujibur Rahman, social workers, journalists, and other esteemed guests.

Following the release of the fish fry, Upazila Fisheries Officer Md. Imran Hossain remarked, “We are Bengalis with fish and rice.” To honor this saying, 500 kg of fish fry have been released into 20 open and institutional water bodies as part of the revenue budget for the 2025-26 financial year.
