In May 2025, the country’s merchandise export earnings experienced a significant increase of 11.45 percent, totaling US$ 4.73 billion compared to the previous year, driven by the strong performance of the readymade garment (RMG) sector.
According to data released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) on Tuesday, Bangladesh earned US$ 4.25 billion in May 2024.
The earnings from RMG exports in May 2025 reached US$ 3.91 billion, an increase from US$ 3.50 billion in May 2024, indicating a monthly growth rate of 11.85 percent.
Overall exports for the July–May period of FY 2024–25 amounted to US$ 44.94 billion, showing a year-on-year growth of 10 percent.
The data indicated that Bangladesh earned US$ 40.85 billion during the same timeframe in the previous fiscal year.
As is customary, the Ready-Made Garment (RMG) sector continued to hold its dominant position, contributing US$ 36.55 billion and achieving a 10.20 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
