Expatriate income in 21 days is 163 million dollars.

The rate of expatriate income through legal channels has increased. In the first 21 days of this month, expatriate Bangladeshis have sent 163 crore 42 lakh (1.63 billion) US dollar remittances to the country through legal channels. In domestic currency, the amount is 19 thousand 611 crores (120 Taka per dollar).

This information is known from the updated report published by the central bank on Sunday (September 22).

Analyzing the data of the central bank, it has been found that the amount of remittances received in the first 21 days of this month is about 300 million dollars more than the same period last year. In September 2023, remittances came in at $1.33 billion. 154 million dollars came in September 2022.

According to the information of the central bank, the amount of remittances received in the country in the first 21 days of this month was 48.7 million dollars through state-owned banks, 6.98 million 30 thousand dollars through a specialized bank, and 107.96 million 10 thousand dollars through private banks. And 4 million USD remittances came through foreign banks.

In the month of August, expatriate income or remittances came to the country of 222 million US dollars (2.22 billion). In domestic currency, the amount is 26 thousand 656 crores.

In the first month of the fiscal year 2024-25, July, remittances of US$ 191,358,000 have arrived in the country. Which is lowest in previous 10 months. Earlier in September 2023, remittances came in at $1.33 billion.
