DU is ready for special convocation to honor Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman

The special convocation of Dhaka University will be held on October 29, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the central playground of the university to confer the honorary degree of ‘Doctor of Laws’ (posthumously) on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a former proud student of Dhaka University. The daughter of Bangabandhu Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be present as the convocation speaker.

On Saturday, a preparatory meeting was held on the occasion of a special convocation at Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhavan. Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor Akhtaruzzaman presided over the meeting.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Samad, Treasurer Prof. Mumtaz Uddin Ahmed, along with Senate and Syndicate members, Deans of various faculties, Principles of various halls, Chairman of various departments, and Directors and Heads of various institutes, were present in the meeting.

In the meeting, the overall activities and preparations of various sub-committees, including the executive and management committees, were reviewed, and satisfaction was expressed over the overall preparations and progress for the smooth completion of the special convocation ceremony.

The convocation will be attended by foreign diplomats, invited guests, members of the Senate, Syndicate, and Academic Council, faculty and students, alumni, and registered graduates.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Akhtaruzzaman appealed to all concerned to implement all the programs of the special convocation in a fair, orderly, and successful manner.
