The country’s main capital market, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), has been hit by a technical glitch. As a result, trading on the DSE was suspended from the morning of Sunday (January 5), the first working day of the week. After being closed for one and a half hours, DSE trading resumed at 11:30 am. The time for trading and settlement was also extended.

DSE Public Relations Officer Deputy General Manager (AGM) Md. Shafiqur Rahman said that trading resumed at 11:30 am after the technical glitch was resolved. The DSE’s IT team tried tirelessly to resolve the issue. It took one and a half hours to resolve the issue and resume trading on the DSE.
It is learnt that due to server complications, trading was supposed to start on the DSE from 10 am on Sunday, but it was not possible, the DSE said. However, investors logged into the DSE website around 10 am and saw that trading was not taking place. At that time, the DSE website informed that due to network problems, the country’s main capital market, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), could not start trading on the first working day of the week. The DSE’s IT team is working to resolve the problem. Later, it was informed that trading will start at 11:30 am.
As trading started one and a half hours late today, the time for trading and settlement has been extended. Trading will continue on the DSE until 2:50 pm. And the transaction will be settled between 2:50 pm and 3 pm.
