DSE terminates 11 more officials

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the country’s premier stock market, has terminated the employment of 11 more officials.

The decision was taken by the DSE authorities and the termination became effective immediately.

A senior DSE official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the matter. Attempts to contact DSE Managing Director Nuzhat Anwar for comments were unsuccessful.

The names and designations of all 11 terminated officials could not be confirmed immediately. However, those reportedly affected include Bimal Chandra, Happy, Popy, Monowara, Asma, Munzer, Farid and Mostak from the General Administration department.

Bimal Chandra said the authorities had not informed them in advance about the decision.

“We were suddenly called in today and informed that our employment had been terminated. I have heard that a total of 11 people, including me, are on the list,” he said.

Earlier, the DSE recently terminated another 17 officials and employees. Following those dismissals, the affected employees staged a human chain protest, claiming that the exchange had prepared a list to terminate another 140 employees.

The latest round of dismissals has reportedly heightened anxiety among employees across the DSE, with many fearing further job cuts.
