The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed lower on Tuesday as broad-based selling pressure pushed the benchmark index down, with 270 stocks ending the session in the red. Turnover, however, increased from the previous session.
The DSEX fell 20.37 points to close at 5,424. The DSES declined 4.94 points to 1,074, while the DS-30 shed 4.65 points to settle at 2,077.
Turnover rose to Tk 564.18 crore from Tk 537.12 crore in the previous session.
Of the 390 securities traded, 270 declined, 79 advanced and 41 remained unchanged, underscoring the bearish tone across the market.
