DSE market capitalizations rises by tk 5,213 Cr

B Mirror Report:The market capitalisation of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) increased by Tk5,213 crore during the week, supported by gains in all major indices and higher trading activity.

According to the DSE’s weekly market update, the bourse’s total market capitalisation rose by 0.75% to Tk697,739 crore at the close of the week’s final trading session, up from Tk692,526 crore a week earlier.

All key indices ended the week in positive territory. The benchmark DSEX advanced 91.04 points, or 1.61%, while the DSES Shariah Index gained 25.28 points (2.21%). The DS30 Index, which tracks blue-chip stocks, climbed 30.85 points, or 1.45%.

Trading turnover also improved significantly during the week. Total transactions on the DSE reached Tk5,735.75 crore, compared with Tk4,757.82 crore in the previous week, an increase of Tk977.93 crore.

The average daily turnover rose by 50.69% to Tk1,433.94 crore from Tk951.56 crore in the previous week.

A total of 391 listed companies and mutual fund units were traded on the DSE during the week. Share prices of 272 companies advanced, while 90 declined and 29 remained unchanged.

Meanwhile, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also posted gains in its major indices. The CASPI and CSCX indices rose by 1.70% and 1.87%, respectively, while the CSE-30 and CSE-50 indices increased by 1.42% and 1.27%. The CSI Index climbed 2.46%.

However, weekly turnover on the CSE fell to Tk171.25 crore from Tk360.92 crore in the previous week, marking a decline of Tk189.67 crore.

During the week, 329 companies and mutual fund units were traded on the CSE. Of them, 211 gained, 89 lost value, and 29 remained unchanged.
