B Mirror Report : Trading took place in the country’s capital market this week amid a rise in indices. As a result, the market capitalization of the country’s main stock exchange, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), increased by Tk 6,324 crore over the week.
This information was revealed in the weekly update report of the capital market.
Over the week, the DSE’s market capitalization rose by 0.92 percent, or Tk 6,324 crore. On the last trading day of the current week, the DSE’s market capitalization stood at Tk 690,764 crore, compared to Tk 684,440 crore on the last trading day of the previous week.
During the week, all indices of the DSE recorded gains. The benchmark index, DSEX, increased by 140.62 points, or 2.84 percent. The DSE-30 index rose by 50.16 points, or 2.62 percent, while the DSES index increased by 29.49 points, or 2.96 percent.
Trading volume on the DSE also increased. Total turnover on the DSE during the week amounted to Tk 2,879.08 crore, compared to Tk 1,900.60 crore in the previous week. Thus, weekly turnover rose by Tk 978.48 crore.
Average daily turnover increased by Tk 195.69 crore, or 51.48 percent. During the current week, the average daily turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 575.81 crore, while in the previous week it was Tk 380.12 crore.
Throughout the week, shares and mutual fund units of 388 companies were traded on the DSE. Of these, prices increased for 309 companies, declined for 41 companies, and remained unchanged for 38 companies.
