DSE market capitalization drops by Tk 914cr

B Mirror Report: The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) recorded a decline in its key indices during the trading week from June 21 to June 25, resulting in a Tk 914 crore drop in market capitalization, according to the stock market’s weekly report.

The DSE’s market capitalization fell by 0.13%, reaching Tk 692,526 crore at the end of the week, down from Tk 693,440 crore in the previous week.

All major DSE indices ended lower. The benchmark DSEX index declined by 8.56 points (0.15%), while the DSES index dropped 6.82 points (0.59%) and the DS30 index fell 11.96 points (0.56%).

Trading activity also weakened during the week. Total turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 4,757.82 crore, compared with Tk 6,419.21 crore in the previous week, a decrease of Tk 1,661.39 crore. Average daily turnover declined by 25.88% to Tk 951.56 crore.

During the week, 388 companies and mutual fund units were traded on the DSE. Share prices increased for 145 companies, declined for 222, and remained unchanged for 21.

Meanwhile, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also experienced a decline in its major indices. However, weekly turnover increased to Tk 360.92 crore, up from Tk 216.95 crore in the previous week. Of the 329 securities traded on the CSE, prices rose for 108 companies, fell for 191, and remained unchanged for 30.
