DSE Market Capitalization Declines by Tk 17,841 Crore

BM Desk : The week that just concluded (from October 12 to October 16) saw a decrease in trading activity at the nation’s primary stock exchange, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE). Consequently, the DSE’s market capitalization decreased by Tk 17,841 crore during the week.

Throughout the week, the DSE’s market cap fell by Tk 17,841 crore, representing a decline of 2.49%. On the last trading day of the week, the market capitalization of DSE was Tk 6,99,285 crore, down from Tk 7,17,126 crore on the last trading day of the prior week.

Every index of the DSE experienced a downturn this week. The primary index DSEX fell by 164.30 points, representing a 3.11% decline. The DS30 index decreased by 65.12 points, equivalent to 3.20%, while the DSES index dropped by 47.98 points, or 3.23%.

With the drop in indices, the trading volume on the DSE decreased as well. During the week, the overall turnover amounted to Tk 2,611.11 crore, down from Tk 3,285.63 crore the week before — a decline of Tk 674.52 crore. The typical daily turnover decreased by Tk 134.90 crore, equivalent to 20.53%.

Throughout the week, the DSE recorded an average daily turnover of Tk 522.22 crore, a decrease from Tk 657.12 crore the prior week.

Throughout the week, shares of 396 companies and units of mutual funds were exchanged. Out of these, the prices of 56 firms rose, 326 fell, and 14 stayed the same.
