The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the nation’s primary stock market, saw activity over the previous week (November 30 to December 4) amid a decline in the index. Consequently, during the course of the week, DSE’s market capitalization dropped by Tk 7,371 crore.
The market capitalization was Tk 684,762 crore at the end of the final trading day of the week, according to the weekly market update report. The market capitalization was Tk 692,133 crore at the start of the week. As a result, DSE’s market capitalization decreased by Tk 7,371 crore, or 1.07%, during the course of the week.
All of DSE’s indices also declined during the outgoing week. The key index, DSEX, fell by 141.57 points or 2.82%. In addition, the DS30 index dropped by 42.48 points or 2.20%, while the DSES index declined by 32.06 points or 3.03%.
Along with the fall in the indices, the total trading volume on the DSE also decreased. Throughout the week, total turnover amounted to Tk 2,057.30 crore. In the previous week, total turnover was Tk 2,625.57 crore. This means turnover fell by Tk 568.27 crore in a week.
Average daily turnover also decreased by Tk 113.65 crore, or 21.64%. This week, the DSE recorded an average daily turnover of Tk 411.46 crore, compared to Tk 525.11 crore per day in the previous week.
During the week, shares and mutual fund units of 382 companies were traded on the DSE. Among them, prices increased for 45 companies, decreased for 325 companies, and remained unchanged for 13 companies.
