Trading on the country’s premier bourse, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), ended on a positive note on Sunday (January 4), the first trading day of the week, as key indices posted significant gains. Most of the traded stocks advanced in price, while total turnover also increased in value terms.
According to DSE sources, the benchmark index DSEX rose by 54.62 points to close at 4,965 points.
The other indices also closed higher, with the DSES gaining 0.60 points to reach 1,006 points, while the blue-chip index DS30 advanced by 18.42 points to settle at 1,887 points.
Total turnover at the DSE stood at Tk 537.41 crore, up from Tk 368.15 crore in the previous trading session.
A total of 390 companies saw their shares and units traded during the session. Of them, prices of 204 companies increased, while 143 companies recorded declines. Prices of 43 companies remained unchanged.
