DSE finds C&A Textile factory shut

B Mirror Report:  Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has found the factory of listed company C&A Textile shut during a recent on-site inspection, with no signs of production or normal operations.

A DSE inspection team visited the company’s factory on Sunday and found production activities suspended. The company has not yet provided an official explanation for the closure.

The development comes amid concerns over the company’s financial condition and its failure to provide updated information to investors. According to DSE data, C&A Textile last published its third-quarter financial report in March 2024.

The company was downgraded to the ‘Z’ category in January 2025 after failing to hold its annual general meeting within the stipulated timeframe. At the same time, margin loan facilities for purchasing the company’s shares were suspended.

C&A Textile’s financial position has also remained weak. The company has paid-up capital of around Tk 239.32 crore, while its net asset value per share was reported at negative Tk 3.81.

The factory’s closure is not a new development. A DSE inspection team also found the company’s factory and head office closed during an inspection in 2019.

In September, the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) approved a DSE request to inspect C&A Textile amid concerns over its operations and financial disclosures.

C&A Textile was listed on the stock market in 2015 and is currently traded in the ‘Z’ category. According to the latest DSE data, the company has approximately 239.32 million shares outstanding.

The latest inspection adds to growing concerns over the company’s operational status, financial health and disclosure practices.
