Interim government’s chief adviser Nobel-winning economist Dr. Muhammad Yunus will attend the UN General Assembly session in September, UN Resident Representative Gwen Lewis said.
On Thursday (August 22), the UN Resident Representative told reporters after a meeting with Additional Foreign Secretary Riyaz Hamidullah.
Gwen Lewis said, the session of the United Nations General Assembly was discussed in the meeting. Dr. Yunus will attend the session.
He said, we talked about data and SDG statistics. We talked about the support the government has sought from us on the new priorities the government has.
Gwen Lewis said, currently a UN delegation is staying in Dhaka. But this is not the main investigation team. They will discuss how long the fact-finding team will work, what the government expects and other issues.
When asked whether the fact-finding mission will conduct a full investigation, he said that the investigation team is currently discussing with the government about the extent of its scope of work.
