Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC) has become the first organization in Bangladesh to win the Asian Power Awards 2023. DPDC’s Geographical Information System mapping project won the award in the ‘Innovative Power Technology of the Year’ category and the ‘Power Utility of the Year’ category for its innovation in the installation of single-pole transformers in dense areas.
The Asian Power Awards 2023 were presented at a grand ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Wednesday. DPDC Managing Director, Engineer Vikas Dewan, received the award crest and certificate.
The Asian Power Awards are a prestigious award that recognizes exceptional innovation, breakthrough projects, and initiatives in the power sector and encourages sustainable innovation.
The international community recognized DPDC’s dedication and efficiency by awarding the ‘Asian Power Awards 2023’. After receiving the award, the Managing Director of DPDC said in his speech, “This achievement is not only for DPDC, but through this award, the international community recognized the unprecedented success achieved by the Bangladesh government in the power sector.” This achievement is for the whole of Bangladesh.
It is to be noted that DPDC is the first institution in Bangladesh to get this prestigious award; no other institution in Bangladesh has won this award before.
