Imran Jhenaidah : A discussion meeting was held to review the current human rights situation in Jhenaidah. The meeting took place on Thursday afternoon at the conference room of Welfare Efforts (WE) located in Krishnanagar Para of the town.
The meeting was presided over by N.M. Shahjalal, Vice-President of the District Human Rights Network. Among those who spoke at the event were Md. Tipu Sultan, Project Coordinator of the Human Rights Culture Foundation; Consultant Syed Rokon Uddin; Officer-in-Charge of Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station, Abdullah Al Mamun; Deputy General Manager of BSCIC Jhenaidah, Selina Rahman; Deputy Director of Family Planning, Mohammad Mozammel Haque; and Executive Director of Welfare Efforts (WE), Sharifa Khatun, among others.
During the meeting, crime statistics for the past three months in the district were presented. This was followed by an open discussion where representatives from the six upazilas highlighted crime-related issues in their respective areas.
The attending guests shed light on human rights violations occurring in the district and provided specific recommendations for overcoming these issues. They also expressed their commitment to support efforts in protecting human rights.
