Dhaka University celebrates Victory with colorful rally

Dhaka University (DU) commemorated the 53rd Victory On Friday, with a vibrant and enthusiastic rally. The rally, organized by the university administration, commenced from the Smriti Chirantan Square near the Vice-Chancellor Bhavan and culminated at the Independence Square in Suhrawardy Udyan.

Leading the rally was Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Maqsood Kamal, who inaugurated the event by blowing balloons. He was joined by Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Muhammad Samad, Senate and Syndicate members, the Registrar, Deans of various faculties, Principals of halls, Directors of institutes, Chairmen of departments, Proctors, leaders of teachers’ associations and various student organizations, teachers, students, alumni, officers, and employees.

The rally resonated with patriotic fervor as participants chanted slogans, waved flags, and sang national songs. The Department of Music of DU presented stirring renditions of the National Anthem and patriotic tunes, further amplifying the festive atmosphere.

Speaking at the Independence Square, Vice-Chancellor Professor Maqsood Kamal urged everyone to resist the forces of anti-nationalism and embrace the ideals of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He stressed the importance of learning about the Liberation War and the true history of Bangladesh’s independence. He also lauded Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s leadership in bringing back democracy and propelling the country towards remarkable growth and development.

He called upon the teachers, researchers, and students of DU to take a pledge to build a smart Bangladesh from a digital one, following the vision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He emphasized the need to uphold the values of freedom, democracy, and inclusivity for a brighter future.

The DU Victory Day rally served as a powerful testament to the unwavering spirit of the Bangladesh nation. It was a day to remember the sacrifices of the martyrs who fought for freedom and to reaffirm the commitment to building a prosperous and equitable Bangladesh.
