B Mirror Report: Customs officials have seized nearly 24,000 kilograms of domestic and foreign yarn worth Tk 82.68 lakh from a warehouse in Araihazar upazila for allegedly being stored without the required tax invoices.
A preventive team of the Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate, Narayanganj, conducted the raid at the warehouse of Messrs Jahangir and Brothers at Haji Abdul Salam Market in Purinda Bazar around 8am on Tuesday.
According to the National Board of Revenue (NBR), the seized yarn is valued at Tk 82,68,250.
The seized goods comprised 19,466kg of domestic yarn and 4,555kg of foreign yarn.
The customs team found the yarn during a search of the warehouse and determined that the required tax invoices were not available for the goods.
The commissionerate has initiated legal proceedings to recover the applicable revenue, the NBR said in a press release.
