With the theme “Amar Shahor, Amar Desh Poricchonnotay Bodle Zabe Bangladesh,” Community Bank Bangladesh PLC. organised cleanliness and tree plantation programmes under its ‘Community Bank Clean Dhaka Project’ with the aim of building a clean, green and liveable Bangladesh. The programmes were held on Saturday at Viqarunnisa Noon School & College and Rajarbagh Police Lines School & College in the capital.
Around 500 students and teachers of the two educational institutions, along with officials and employees of Community Bank Bangladesh PLC., participated in the programmes. With the active participation of the students, cleanliness drives were conducted on the premises and surrounding areas of the two institutions, while saplings of different species were also planted.
Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Mr. Md. Abdus Salam; Inspector General of Police, Bangladesh and Chairman of Community Bank Bangladesh PLC. Mr. Md. Ali Hossain Fakir; Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, BPM (Sheba); and Managing Director of Community Bank Bangladesh PLC. Mohammed Emtiaz Uddin, along with senior officials of Bangladesh Police, directors of Community Bank, principals of the two educational institutions and other distinguished guests, attended the programmes.
Speaking at the event, Inspector General of Police, Bangladesh and Chairman of Community Bank Bangladesh PLC. Mr. Md. Ali Hossain Fakir stressed the active role of the younger generation in cleanliness, greenery, tree plantation, personal awareness, drug prevention and maintaining law and order.
“Cleanliness and greenery are among the key prerequisites for a beautiful and liveable city. It is not enough to keep roads, streets and our surroundings clean; we must plant more trees to make our cities greener and take care of every tree we plant. A tree not only helps maintain environmental balance, but also ensures clean air, shade and a better environment for future generations,” he said.
He further said, “The practice of cleanliness and greenery must become part of our personal lives and social behaviour. If everyone keeps the environment clean, plants at least one tree and takes care of it from their respective positions, we can collectively build a green and liveable Bangladesh.”
Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Mr. Md. Abdus Salam said, “Nature is behaving adversely because the balance of nature has been disrupted. There is no alternative to planting trees if we want to protect our country and nature.”
He further said, “To stay away from drugs, the younger generation must take part in social activities.”
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, BPM (Seba) said, “A collective effort is needed to build a clean Dhaka. It is extremely important to engage the younger generation in such social activities.”
Mr. Mohammed Emtiaz Uddin, Managing Director of Community Bank Bangladesh PLC., emphasised the need to initiate change from within oneself.
“We must remember that change will never come if we keep waiting for it to begin with someone else. We have to start the change with ourselves. If I change, my family will change. If my family changes, my society will change. And if we all change, Bangladesh will change,” he said.
He further said, “Therefore, today let us work together to build a beautiful and clean city and a green Bangladesh through tree plantation.” He also stressed the active participation of the younger generation in cleanliness, environmental conservation and raising public awareness.
As part of efforts to sustain cleanliness practices, 20 dustbins, 20 shovels and 20 brooms were provided to each of the two educational institutions. In addition, 12 fruit-bearing, timber, medicinal and flowering trees were planted at each institution.

Fazlul Karim, BPM (Sheba), Additional IG and Rector, Police Staff College and Director; Mr. Md. Kamrul Ahsan, DIG (Confidential), Bangladesh Police and Director; Mr. Ahmad Muyeed, BPM (Sheba), Additional DIG, Bangladesh Police Kallyan Trust and Director; Mr. Kamrul Hasan Talukdar, Inspector, Bangladesh Police and Director; Syed Rafiqul Haque, Independent Director; Mr. Syed Rafiqul Haq, Independent Director and Mr. Mohammed Tofazzul Hussain FCA, Independent Director, Community Bank Bangladesh PLC./, were present at the programme.
Also, present were Mr. Mazeda Begum, Acting Principal, Viqarunnisa Noon School & College, and Ahmed Seheli Naznin, Acting Principal, Rajarbagh Police Lines School & College.
