Community Bank Bangladesh PLC has signed a participation agreement with Bangladesh Bank to join the central bank’s Tk 10,000 crore refinancing scheme aimed at boosting agricultural production, expanding the rural economy, ensuring food security and creating employment.
The agreement was signed on August 16, 2026, as part of Bangladesh Bank’s initiative to expand affordable financing for the agriculture sector and rural communities.
Bangladesh Bank’s Director-2 of the Agricultural Credit Department, A K M Saiduzzaman, along with other officials, attended the signing ceremony.
Managing Director of Community Bank Bangladesh PLC Mohammad Imtiaz Uddin, Head of Internal Control and Compliance Division Mohammad Khairul Alam, FCA, and Head of Agriculture Sharif Hasan Mamun represented the bank at the event.
Joint Director-2 of Bangladesh Bank’s Agricultural Credit Department Md Sakhawat Hossain and Additional Director Rafia Sultana were also present.
Under the agreement, Community Bank will expand its financing activities to support agriculture and rural economic development. The bank will focus on increasing access to affordable financing for farmers, boosting agricultural productivity and creating productive employment opportunities in rural areas.
Agriculture remains a key pillar of Bangladesh’s economy and food security. Community Bank said it is committed to supporting sustainable economic development by expanding financing opportunities and providing necessary financial assistance to farmers.
The bank also said it will continue contributing to financial inclusion, financing entrepreneurs and farmers, and supporting sustainable economic growth by harnessing the potential of the agriculture sector.
