B.Mirror Desk: Community Bank Bangladesh PLC. celebrated its 7th Establishment Anniversary with the theme ‘Transform, Growth & Sustainability’, reaffirming its commitment to modern, customer-centric, responsible and sustainable banking. The anniversary celebration was held on Saturday evening at Hotel InterContinental Dhaka, bringing together the Bank’s achievements and experiences of the past seven years while highlighting its future aspirations. Hon’ble Home Minister of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Mr. Salahuddin Ahmed, attended the event as the Chief Guest.
The event was attended by senior government officials, senior officials of Bangladesh Bank, representatives of regulatory bodies, senior officials of Bangladesh Police, members of the Board of Directors, shareholders, corporate clients, stakeholders and senior officials of the Bank.
In his welcome address, Mohammed Emtiaz Uddin, Managing Director of Community Bank Bangladesh PLC., said, “Transform, Growth & Sustainability is not merely the theme of our 7th anniversary; it is a strategic commitment that will guide Community Bank in the years ahead. We aspire to build a bank where transformation will drive progress, growth will create opportunities for people and businesses, and sustainability will serve as the foundation of long-term trust.”
He said transformation at Community Bank would not be limited to technological advancement; rather, it would encompass positive changes in mindset, work processes, service culture and every aspect of the Bank’s relationship with customers. Growth, he added, would not simply mean expanding the scale of business, but also enhancing the Bank’s capabilities, creating new opportunities for customers and making a greater contribution to the national economy. At the same time, sustainability would remain an important consideration in the Bank’s decisions to ensure responsible business practices, long-term growth and the development of a strong and sustainable institution for future generations.
In his address as the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Home Minister Mr. Salahuddin Ahmed congratulated Community Bank on its 7th anniversary. He said that alongside improving efficiency and service quality in the banking sector, it is essential to bring a larger section of the population under financial services and create new opportunities for people. Emphasizing stronger customer service, he said the fundamental objective of banking should be to earn people’s trust and uphold that trust with responsibility.
Referring to the changing landscape of the banking sector, he said Community Bank must become more efficient, innovative and humane by keeping pace with technological advancement, digital services, changing customer expectations and emerging economic realities. He said, “We do not want to merely make a bank bigger; we want to build an institution that connects people’s trust, business opportunities and the progress of the country in one common thread.”
Md. Akram Hossain, BPM (Sheba), Director of Community Bank and Additional Inspector General of Bangladesh Police (Finance), and Dr. Md. Morshed Hasan Khan, Independent Director of the Bank, also addressed the event. The speakers emphasized good governance, responsible banking, financial discipline, customer service and the role of the banking sector in supporting the country’s economic progress.
At the event, two new products of Community Bank—‘Community Bike Loan’ and ‘Community Swapner Bari’—were formally launched. Designed for confirmed members of Bangladesh Police from the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) to Inspector and equivalent ranks, Community Bike Loan offers a special financing facility for purchasing motorcycles to meet personal and professional mobility needs. On the other hand, Community Swapner Bari is a housing finance facility designed to help people turn their dream of owning a home into reality. The two new products reflect Community Bank’s customer-centric commitment to providing financial solutions aligned with people’s real-life needs.
As part of the anniversary celebration, awards were presented in three categories in recognition of business and institutional excellence. Awards were handed over to the recipients selected as Best Corporate Client, Best Branch/Sub-Branch and Best Employee.
