Commerce Adviser urges Japan to invest in Bangladesh

Sheikh Bashiruddin, a trade advisor, has encouraged Japanese businesspeople and entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh.

During his keynote address at the Investment Promotion seminar held at a hotel in Tokyo, Japan on Tuesday morning, February 18, he made this request.

Japanese businessmen interested in investing in Bangladesh were assured by the Trade Advisor that all necessary cooperation would be provided. According to him, Japan is Bangladesh’s biggest development partner overall and a very reliable friend. He expressed gratitude to the Japanese government for its ongoing assistance and collaboration in Bangladesh’s development. Chowdhury Ashiq Mahmud Chowdhury Bin Harun, the chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority, gave a PowerPoint presentation on Bangladesh’s investment opportunities during the seminar.

JETRO Bangladesh Representative Yuji Ando and Bida Business Development Head Nahian Rahman Rochi took part in the seminar’s panel discussion on “Investment Prospects in Post-Reform Bangladesh.” Speaking at the seminar were Senior Vice President of JETRO Kazuya Nakazo, Senior Vice President of JICA Sachiko Emoto, and Ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan Md. Dawood Ali.

The event was attended by the Commercial Counselor of Tokyo, the Head of Business Development at BIDA, the Economic Minister of the Bangladesh Embassy in Japan, and representatives from Bangladesh Bank and NBR.
