Chinese envoy meets PM, assures continued support for Bangladesh

B Mirror Report: Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen today paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The envoy met the Prime Minister at his office at the Cabinet Division in the Bangladesh Secretariat at around 12:30pm, Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman confirmed to media.

Ruman said China has welcomed Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s “Bangladesh First” foreign policy initiative.

During the meeting, the Chinese Ambassador assured that China would continue to extend all necessary cooperation in safeguarding Bangladesh’s sovereignty and supporting its development efforts.

The two sides also discussed various aspects of Bangladesh-China bilateral relations and the ongoing Rohingya crisis. China expressed its willingness to work closely with the new government to ensure stable governance and further strengthen ties between the two countries, Ruman added.
