Chief Advisor urges Islamic NGOs to enter social business

BM Desk : In order to help the Muslim world, Islamic NGOs have been urged to take part in more social business projects by Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor to the Interim Government.

He made the call during a meeting with a group of non-governmental organizations from different Muslim nations on Sunday, July 6, at the Jamuna State Guest House in Dhaka.
According to Professor Muhammad Yunus, “Women’s healthcare is important in our world. Healthcare issues will arise if you are impoverished. We have viewed healthcare as a means of aiding the underprivileged.

According to him, social business is an excellent means of offering this support. He said that social business is inspiring young people all around the world to start their own businesses. NGO leaders present at the meeting said that the social business campaign led by Professor Yunus in recent years has inspired them to take up similar initiatives in their respective countries.

Among the foreign representatives present during the meeting were—Eyup Akbal, Secretary General of the Union of Islamic World NGOs (UNIW) from Turkey, Muhammad Hussain Akhtar, Representative of the Turkish American Association (ATAA), Fawaz Bin Hasbullah, Deputy Secretary General of Persatuan Wadah Pensardasan Ummah (WADAH) and UNIW from Malaysia, Muhammad Abdus Shakur, President of Alkhidmat Foundation and Deputy Secretary General of UNIW from Pakistan, and Dr. Salamun Basri, Member of the Auditing Board of UNIW from Indonesia.

NGO leaders in attendance at the gathering stated that they were motivated to launch such projects in their own nations by Professor Yunus’s recent social business campaign.
Fawaz Bin Hasbullah, Deputy Secretary General of Persatuan Wadah Pensardasan Ummah (WADAH) and UNIW from Malaysia; Muhammad Abdus Shakur, President of Alkhidmat Foundation and Deputy Secretary General of UNIW from Pakistan; Dr. Salamun Basri, Member of the Auditing Board of UNIW from Indonesia; Eyup Akbal, Secretary General of the Union of Islamic World NGOs (UNIW) from Turkey; and Muhammad Hussain Akhtar, Representative of the Turkish American Association (ATAA).

SAWAB Chairman and UNIW High Advisory Board Member Dr. Ali Afzal, BIIT Director General and IIIT Country Representative Dr. M. Abdul Aziz, and Professor Mahbub Ahmed, a retired professor from Dhaka University and President of BIIT, were also in attendance.
